After looking at a few Facebook sites other Librarians have started, I'm starting to get hyped about starting my own (once I have my very own Media Center/Library). What I liked about each one was the simplicity of it. I'm on Facebook alot (personally), so the idea to create a Libary page and use it to help teachers, students, parents, and other librarians is awesome. Here's what I thought of the top three:
Baker Intermediate School Media Center has some really great posts. I enjoyed reading the daily quotes- most were educational in nature- and word of the day. The creator also put pictures of how her library is set up in a cozy- chic fashion. School events and information is shared to all who reads. Some of her students have even written reviews of the library. One particular post she shared contains book reviews and trailers of young adult titles. Genius!!

Another library I enjoyed visiting was the Pasadena High Library. This librarian posted various upcoming events the school was having, especially any literary events. Times of operation, summer hours, author visits, booklist, kindle checkouts, links, reminders about tumblr events, and more was all posted in a quick, easy to read format. This librarian motivates her high school students to excel and move their learning to a higher level with a few clicks of the keyboard.

Freedom High School Library has a lot of great pictures of the library and how it is set up. She takes pictures and videos of special events the library hosts and of her creative displays. Wow! I am getting tons of ideas. She also uses Facebook to get the word out for library and school functions. Book lists and reviews are again posted for students and teachers.

So in my opinion, there are many advantages to putting your school library on FaceBook. This is a free and easy medium to get the word out on the going ons on your campus. Links, pics, videos, presentations, announcements, contests, assignments, and much more can be disseminated to all.
The only problem that I see is that not every student or teacher will be able to see your Facebook posts. Either they have to have an account and/or they have to like your page in order to see the news and information you have posted. Which could be why the three libraries didn't have very many comments posted. A solution is to copy and paste what you posted on the Facebook page in an email, newsletter, or in a bullentin board near the entrance.
Another problem I foresee is many librarians may not be tech savvy enough to start and continue adding content. Nonetheless, these three sites will be my go to place for ideas for my brand new Facebook page.

I now have my own Facebook page set up and will soon be adding information to it.
